A Harris hand, lifting green from the mire,
Or Trump’s fist, feeding the fossil fire.
A week beyond ballots, in Azerbaijan’s halls,
World leaders gather as our climate calls.
Promises float, hollow words on stale air,
While Spain drowns beneath rain’s ruthless snare.
Eight hours, a year of torrents fell,
On highways, in homes—a watery hell.
The dice are loaded; the flames stoked high,
And nature’s cry echoes in a warming sky.
Two years on from Montreal’s fleeting accord,
Biodiversity remains a broken sword.
Agriculture stalls, its pesticide plea,
While unfunded words fall as dead as the tree.
The iceberg loomed; the collision was fierce,
Trump’s victory—reality’s heart pierced.
Isolationist winds tear at global threads,
Democracy falters, while autocracy spreads.
Berlin stumbles, its coalition torn,
Europe’s rudderless ship drifts, forlorn.
France fractured, Ukraine bleeding still,
Russia prowls, a predator with ill will.
Three-quarters of a nation, weighed down, unfit,
The mirror reflects our collective deficit.
At climate talks, ambition dissolves,
Optical illusions, problems unresolved.
A bitter fight, a deal signed in shame,
High hopes lost in a bureaucratic game.
"This is failure," she said, her voice a knife,
Carving through the pretense of progress in life.
And now, atop this heap of despair,
A forest screams as chainsaws tear.
A Christmas tree—a 200-year breath—
Dragged to Rome, a monument of death.
Oh Francis, who wrote of nature’s plight,
Where is your hand to halt this blight?
A symbol of cheer, but blood on the bark,
A beacon of joy in a world gone dark.
This November, history writes in ash and flame,
A planet betrayed, with humanity’s name.
